Week of November 6th - 10th

Hi All,

Just a few updates this week.

Wednesday November 8th - Book Exchange in the Learning Commons.  We did not change our books last week because the book fair was set up in the space.  Please help your child put his/her book in their backpack on Tuesday night. It is also Fun Lunch!

Friday November 10th - Remembrance Day Assembly - Team 75 and 74 are hosting the Remembrance Day Assembly this year.  We are going to be starting promptly at 10:30 a.m.  The students will be singing a couple of songs with the grade 3 students as well as showcasing some of their thoughts and actions around the phrase, "Peace is..."  You are welcome to attend this assembly.  Please be mindful that the assembly is a solemn event as we honour those men and women who have protected the freedoms of all Canadians.

We are also collecting donations of non-perishable food items for the Veteran's Food Bank until Friday at noon.  At which time, Mr. Scout will be transporting all donations to the drop off site.  In addition, students will be getting a poppy on Friday.  Donations toward the poppy fund are gratefully accepted.

Students are continuing their study of Rocks and Minerals in Science and mapping skills in Social Studies.  They are also going to be revisiting the Inquiry on Pandas in the next couple of weeks as they begin to look at the Panda Life Cycle and environment.

Mrs. Vandertoorn and I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to those parents who took time out of their busy schedules to come meet with us during Parent-Teacher Conferences.  If you did not get a chance to meet with us and would like to, please email one of us and we will do our best to find a mutual time for a conference.

One final note,  now that the snow has arrived students need to come to school dressed for the weather.  That means,  snow pants, warm winter coats, hats, mittens/gloves, neck warmers/scarves and of course, winter boots.  Students will be expected to be outside in the mornings and at lunch time.  Our guiding temperature is -20 C.  If it is colder than that, then we will let the children wait inside for the bell to ring.  Most days, students in room 75 will be going outside for an afternoon body break.  It is really tempting to play on the hill and get covered in snow.  It is also very uncomfortable to sit through the rest of the day in wet pants.

Thanks again for your support of your child's education.  We couldn't do this without you!

Sincerely,

Ms Patton and Mrs. Vandertoorn
