It's June already?!?!

Dear families,

While we have officially entered the last month of school the pace has not slowed in room 75.  We are sure that we will be learning right up until the last minute this year! Our final month will be jam packed as we finish science projects, explore math units, and write stories. Oh, and raise $3000 for clean water! These amazing students (and their friends and families) have already raised $603, and have been working hard to advertise the fundraisers we are holding on Friday, June 8. This week students went to each class in the school to promote our fundraising.

Charity:Water Notes and Reminders

1.  On Friday June 8 from 11:15-12:30 we will be selling baking, lemonade, popcorn, used toys and books, and student artwork on the compound.

  • We will be collecting gently used toys and books all week for Friday's sale.
  • If you would like to donate baked goods for the bake sale, please bring them to school on Friday.  It is always helpful to note any potential allergens (nuts, dairy, eggs, etc.).
  • If you would like to volunteer to help with the sale please let Mrs. V know!  We need parent volunteers!
  • Permission forms will be going home next week to allow students to stay after school to help with the sale.  No child is required to stay!

2.   Starting on Monday there will be a trailer in the school parking lot to collect bottles.  Please bring your bottles in during school hours!

3.  Our students will also be participating in a water walk in the morning of June 8.  Pledge sheets - and more information - will be going home on Monday.

  • Each student will need a container to carry 4 liters of water - like a clean, empty, 4 liter milk jug, or two 2 liter clean, empty milk jugs, or two 2 liter pop bottles (also clean and empty).

4.  We will continue to accept cash donations in the office and donations can be made online at Operation Cranston - Charity Water.  Please share the website on social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc)!   https://my.charitywater.org/cranston-kids/operation-cranston-clean-water

In other news, we started learning about fractions this week. In grade three students need to know that fractions are part of a whole, be able to identify them, and compare them.  We also worked on problem solving this week and we specifically looked at problems that require reasoning and logic. I was very impressed at how well everyone did!  The students have learned to introduce themselves in French and Arabic so they are set should your summer travels take you to Tunisia!

Have a great weekend!

Mrs. V and Ms. P
