Good Times!
What a great day in grade three! We definitely did not let the snowy weather slow us down today and have so much to share.
First of all, a Volunteer Form went home today about our upcoming Pi Day celebration. We are looking for volunteers to help us shop for pie making ingredients on Wednesday, March 7, from 12:30 - 2:00pm. If we have enough volunteers, we will be going to Sobey's on a community walk. I know that this is short notice for many of you but if you are able, we would love to include this in our Pi Day plan!
We will also need volunteers on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 14, to help make the pies. If you have any questions, feel free to call or email.
Volunteer Forms are due back on Monday, March 5!
This week the children have been exploring Disco in music and this morning we got to "Drop everything and dance!". We are definitely having fun using Disco music as a soundtrack to our days adventures.
We have finished reading our class novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Watch for a permission form next week allowing your child to watch the movie at school on Friday, March 16, while we eat our "school-made" apple pies!
Students also spent some time working on their designs for this year's Yearbook cover. The front cover will be voted on by all of the students from among all of the grade threes' drawings. These designs will be created at school.
Additionally, we began our exploration into design and building and we have started to learn about the engineering process for creating and innovating. Today's (very challenging) task was to build either the longest (spanning two objects), tallest, or strongest structure - using only mini marshmallows and spaghetti! I think the pictures speak to the great cross curricular thinking that was taking place!
And this was just our Friday morning!
Have a great weekend. Enjoy the fresh (never-ending) powder!
