Beautiful Hearts

Dear families,

It has been a terrific return to school this week, despite the freezing temperatures and indoor days.  I thought you might enjoy a little clip of one of the ways that we get our movement in when its too cold to go out.  A little bit of "Pop See Ko"!

"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."

This quotation from Anne Frank inspired our work, and some incredible conversations, this week.  We also read "The Tree in the Courtyard: Looking Through Anne Frank's Window", by Jeff Gottesfeld.  I was so moved by the thoughts and questions that your children shared.  Our discussion ranged from the courage of a young girl in World War II to the heroism of first responders on 9/11 and beyond.  Your children were respectful, kind, and compassionate and we were all motivated by Anne's words.  And oh my, the beauty in the hearts of your young people...

REMINDER: Please return signed report card envelopes.

Our upcoming Artist of the Week is The Beach Boys.  The Beach Boys are most commonly known for pioneering the “California Sound”, otherwise known as the surf rock sub genre. Through the 60s, The Beach Boys evolved from a “youth-culture” themed pop group, to being highly sophisticated rock innovators with critically acclaimed albums like “Pet Sounds”.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Mrs. V
