Update for the last week of school in 2017!
Hello All!
Thanks to everyone who attended our Christmas Concerts last week. They were a terrific success and many thanks go to Ms. Thomas, the staff and especially the students for working so hard to make our concerts such fun!!
We did do other activities besides practice for the concert. Here's a synopsis for you!
We are continuing to grow salt, sugar and borax crystals (all in separate containers, of course). Some of our crystal structures are amazing displays of nature in action. We will be finishing our observations and taking photographs of them. You can check them out at our Student-Led Conferences in January.
Ms. Patton was away a couple of days and students worked on describing an elf from Santa's workshop. The students are creating a Matching Game bulletin board using our pictures and descriptions. You will get a chance to play the matching game at Conferences too!
This is how next week is shaping up...
1. Christmas Caroling - Students will be meeting in the gym every day next week to sing Christmas Carols to share in the joy of the Holiday Season!
2. Library Books - Students are asked to return their Library Books by Thursday this week for the Holidays. Students will be getting new books in the New Year!
3. Fun Lunch - Wednesday December 21 - Please send a morning and afternoon snack with your child.
4. Movie afternoon - All students will be meeting in the gym on Thursday afternoon to watch the movie "Inside Out". Staff decided to use this movie as a vehicle to discuss our emotions, Zones of Regulation and the movie fits quite nicely into the Health/S4 curriculum. The movie will begin promptly at 12:30 and will be finished by 2:00 p.m.
5. Report Cards - Students will be getting their Report Cards on Thursday before they go home for the Winter Break. If your child will not be at school, please let me know and I will ensure that you get the report card after the holidays. The parent copy of the report card will not be printed until Tuesday/Wednesday this week.
6. Winter Break - Students begin their Winter Break on Thursday, right at dismissal time. School begins for them on January 9, 2017. Friday December 22, 2017 and January 8, 2018 are Professional Days for all staff.
Finally, Mrs. Vandertoorn and I would like to wish each and every one of you a wonderful, restful Holiday Season! We both look forward to seeing all of you in 2018!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Ms Patton and Mrs. Vandertoorn
