One field trip down, one to go!

Dear Families,

Thank you so much to all of the parents that volunteered on Tuesday for our field trip to the National Music Centre (NMC).  The kids had a great time and learned a lot.  Surprisingly, the theremin was a huge hit with the kids.  Be sure to ask your child all about it!  This trip was an excellent way to kick off our Science learning about hearing and sound.  And the children are already looking forward to out Zoo trip on May 16th.

As an extension to our social studies unit, we have begun weaving in class.  The students are really enjoying this project as they work towards creating a "mini mancha".  Work is also continuing on our social justice initiative.  The children have decided that - together with 2 other classes - they would like to try and raise $3000 for Charity:Water.  This is approximately the cost of building one community well and will provide permanent access to clean water for 100 people.  We have spent some time in Math helping the students understand the relative value of $3000, in our community, and they have some great ideas for fundraisers.  The next steps will be to create a plan of action and write a persuasive letter to Mrs. Tuff and Mr. Scout in order to gain their support.

We will be launching our campaign at the May 25 Assembly so watch this space for more information!

Enjoy the warm weather this weekend!

Mrs. V and Ms. P
